Last Friday, at the Revenue House of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service, (BIRS), the Acting Executive Chairman of the service, Sunday Odagba, FCTI, FCNA, along with his management staff held a stakeholders engagement with the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, Makurdi, Gboko and Otukpo branches.

The Chairman during the meeting, which was at the instance of the service, solicited for the support of the body of lawyers in the state to enable the government achieve optimal performance in revenue collections.

While emphasising that taxation is a function of the law, the Chairman further called on the lawyers to also update their tax obligations with the state to serve as examples to their clients and the general public.

In their separate remarks, the Chairmen of the three branches of the association all promised the cooperation of their members, and also requested for a broader engagement with members at their various branches.

The Board Secretary and Legal Adviser of BIRS, Ushahemba Dekaa, Esq, ACTI, in his vote of thanks on behalf of the management, appreciated the lawyers for honoring the invitation of the Chairman and their pledge to support the legitimate functions of the service.
